UPI History
Keith Bates started Bates Machine, Inc. in 1979 as a general purpose machining operation. By 1990 he was primarily manufacturing medical devices. Sixteen years after he started Bates Machine, Keith retired and the company was purchased by an investment group led by Ron Drown, who operates the company as its President. In 2006 Bates Machine was renamed to Universal Precision Instruments, Inc. Quality and attention to detail that started with Bates Machine is still the focal point today.
